Keeping up with technology…Have you seen Google+?

The hardest part about working in technology is keeping up with it.  This might be a little plug for myself here…but’s that is what I do best.  I try to keep up with the latest and greatest in technology.  Both in my job and outside my job. So whether it’s providing you information on the latest infrastructure product in a data center or finding out some tips and tricks for Google+ I want to be your resource 🙂

Here is a little comic I developed ( it’s part of my Kip and Gary Data Center Comics) to represent what an average Head of Infrastructure Technology might go through to stay connected. Pretty overwhelming right?  And i’m about to convince you to add one more suggestion… google+. I mean facebook is cool and all, but lets face it, they have been on top just way to long. Everyone wants something new, and here it is. If you haven’t gotten an invite yet, let me know and I will invite you!

I can give you many reasons why you should just try it out…but here is one….So it was my birthday yesterday,  and I went to work as usual and logged into my computer and typed in like I usually do to check the news and such. But what I like to see the most is the Google icon for the day. It may be a guitar playing music, it may be a colorful art piece spelling out google…well anyway today was birthday cupcakes and presents! It was crazy!  I thought for a moment, does google have the same birthday as I do??? When I hovered over the icon it read, “Happy Birthday Diane!” It was one of the craziest things I have ever scene! I found out about a couple seconds later it was because my computer automacially logged me into gmail. But either way..Pretty cool way to start a birthday.

So as promised in the first part of the blog I came across these Google+ Tips and tricks I thought were helpful:

40 Google Plus Tips for Newbies

Ok, so at this point, we are all newbies at Google Plus, right? At least if you got in recently via a Google Plus invite. At this point I’ve spent a decent amount of time with it and have concluded that Google has finally made a positive mark in social networking. It’s still early, but there is a lot of excitement around Google+ by those who have jumped on early, and for good reason. Google has launched a social network with several features designed to leapfrog its competition. What’s evident, as more and more people start using Google’s social network, is the need for help for newer users. In this post you’ll learn how to quickly add friends to your network, what circles are, how I’m using circles to be more productive, how photos are displayed, what your profile page is and why it’s important, security, some advanced tips, browser plugins, and more. May it serve as a good first step to help you and others make the most of the social network.  To Read More Click Here

Also on a side note there is also Music Beta by Google which so far is pretty cool…but that’s another blog post.

Hope you enjoyed the post and comics! Also I found this great video that explains google+ as well. Epipheo Studios is awesome!!
